Greg Mercurio
CEO and Commercialization Lead
Serving as BrachyClip's CEO, Greg is a bona-fide expert in the medical device space, having worked in the healthcare industry since 1983, forming numerous successful healthcare partnerships among physicians, healthcare facilities, and providers of high technology medical equipment, and patient treatment facilities.
He previously served as a Business Development Consultant at 21st Century Oncology from 2001 thru 2017, once the largest radiology provider in the world, with over 168 facilities offering cancer care services across multiple cancer care modalities.
Greg has also been the President of Biotechnology Integration and Management, LLC which is a healthcare consulting firm that he founded in 2000. He is the founding member of Rhode Island PET/CT Mobile Imaging Network, which he has been an owner and Board member since he secured a Certificate of Need to establish a mobile PET/CT Network in 2002.
Under Greg's leadership, BrachyClip will focus on successfully bringing the innovative brachytherapy system to market. Greg's proven track record in guiding companies from product development through market launch positions him perfectly to lead the overall organization and guide the commercialization efforts for BrachyClip.

Michael Pereira
Chief Operating Officer / Chief Technology Officer
Michael is a degreed engineer with a BSME from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a MSME from Northeastern University and has over 25 years of medical device product development, operations, and manufacturing experience.
As Chief Operating Officer, Michael most recently lead Beta Bionic's Operating teams including R&D, Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Medical Affairs, and IT groups.
Previously, as part of Ximedica for over 20 years, Michael led nearly 300 programs while focusing on developing technologies and strategies that helped Ximedica's clients and partners successfully commercialize their products. He was an integral part and led the development of Ximedica's QMS and manufacturing operations.
Michael is leading the engineering and product development through manufacturing efforts for BrachyClip. He also will oversee the implementation of a Quality Management System and quality standards within the organization.

Dr. Joseph F. Amaral, FACS
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Amaral is internationally recognized as a pioneer in minimally invasive surgery and in the development and commercialization of new energy-based surgical technologies. For example, Dr. Amaral was instrumental in the success of Ultracision, a startup company, by developing, with company CEO Tom Davison, PhD, the Harmonic Scalpel, which is considered one of the major surgical technology introductions of the past twenty years.
Currently, Dr. Amaral serves as CMO for Venture Investors, a Midwest-based VC firm focused on healthcare innovation. Prior to these roles, Dr. Amaral served as CMO of PolyNovo, Inc., where he oversaw a PMA submission; as VP of Medical and Clinical Affairs at HistoSonics, where he established a multiorgan clinical research strategy and successfully completed the pivotal first-in-human liver trial, leading to DeNovo authorization by the FDA.
He has also served as VP of Medical Devices for the Corporate Office of Science and Technology at Johnson & Johnson, Chief Scientific Officer for Ethicon's Energy Franchise, and VP of Surgical Innovation at Ethicon, Inc.
From 2000 to 2007, Dr. Amaral was President and CEO of Rhode Island Hospital (RIH) and its pediatric division, Hasbro Children's Hospital. Prior to that, Dr. Amaral was Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Brown University School of Medicine.
Dr. Amaral is currently a Professor of Surgery (Emeritus) at Brown University School of Medicine, a member of 25 professional societies, author of 100+ papers and book chapters, and has delivered over 500 national and international presentations.

Dr. David E. Wazer, MD, FACRO, FABS, FACR, FASTRO
Founder & Chief Technology Officer
Research Scholar Professor and Chair of Radiation Oncology at Brown University, Director Brown Health Cancer Institute.
Dr. Wazer is the former president and Board Chair of the American Brachytherapy Society. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Clinical Oncology and served for over 16 years as a senior editor of the journal, Brachytherapy.
He is the author of over 400 peer-reviewed scientific papers and 13 textbooks. He is the holder of 17 patents related to brachytherapy devices. He is generally recognized as an expert in brachytherapy and the development of novel radiotherapy technologies.
Dr. Wazer has authored/edited several books including 'Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation', 'Short Course Breast Radiotherapy', and 'Image-guided IMRT'. He is the senior Co-Editor of 'Perez, Brady, Halperin, and Wazer: Principles and Practice of Radiation Oncology', the widely recognized premier textbook of radiation oncology.
Dr. Wazer served as Professor and Chairman of the departments of Radiation Oncology at both Tufts and Brown Universities from 1997-2024.

Dr. Tom DiPetrillo
Co-Founder
Dr. Tom DiPetrillo, a Professor of Radiation Oncology and Chief of the Brachytherapy Division at the Alpert Medical School at Brown University, has been a key collaborator in the development of the BrachyClip product alongside Dr. Wazer for the past 20 years.
His extensive expertise and longstanding commitment to advancing brachytherapy solutions and novel radiotherapy applications have been instrumental in shaping the product's concept and design. Dr. DiPetrillo remains deeply engaged in the project and intends to provide ongoing guidance at each stage of the product's development.
Dr. Thomas DiPetrillo is also a radiation oncologist and the clinical director of radiation oncology at Rhode Island and The Miriam hospitals. He is a leading authority on a variety of radiation treatments for cancer, including intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy.
Dr. DiPetrillo is a pioneer in the use of IMRT, a noninvasive procedure that allows physicians to pinpoint delivery of radiation therapy, resulting in better tumor control with less toxicity. He is also an expert in the use of HDR brachytherapy.
